Accelerated Nursing Programs
Frank Said:
accelerated nursing programs available? what is the fastest accelerated learning program available right now?We Answered:
If you are asking about accelerated nursing programs, I assume you already have a prior BA/BS degree. Either is required for admission to these programs. Here is a list of nearly all in the county. All are 12 -24 months. Creignton medical center in Omaha, Nebraska offers a program 12 months in length for people with a prior degree. If your experience is in Para-medicine, you may be eligible for a Paramedic to RN bridge program. Not sure were you live, but here is a link for one in Missouri. If you don't have a degree, two years is not that long, and you will find that everyone of your classmates has lots of health-care experience as well. Nursing schools have gotten so competitive, that no one gets in without experience working in a hospital environment. Hospital rotations wouldn't put you ahead of the pack, because you weren't learning nursing skills if you weren't in nursing rotations. As far as CPR, I don't see why you would get any special treatment there. It is required for admission for all programs traditional or accelerated.

Can someone give me information about accelerated nursing programs? We Answered:
I would imagine it is crazy. I am going through an accelerated LPN program an it is nuts! Be prepared not to have a life. You have to have a bachelor's degree in another field (and from what I heard, it has to be something to do with science) to qualify to. take the accelerated program.
There is no guarantee of a job, but it is likely you would get one.
Yes the licensing test is hard. It is called the NCLEX-RN. Yes, you can work out of state, but you would need to get a license for that state in order to practice.
Best of luck.

Are there any accelerated nursing BSN programs that don't require you to have a BS/BA?We Answered:
No, the whole point of accelerated BSN programs are that the applicant has already completed a general education core in their former bachelor's program, so they don't have to take those courses over but only focus on prerequisite and nursing specific coursework.Ben Said:
In order to become an Registered Nurse, do I need an accelerated Nursing program? We Answered:
Ultimately it is up to you. You are not required to do an accelerated program just because you already have a bachelors degree, but of course a traditional program will take you longer. So long as you have the necessary prerequisites, a competitive GPA, and interview/essay, whatever else is required you can be admitted into a nursing program if selected. In fact having successfully completed another course of study would probably be seen as a plus if you were applying to a traditional program. My suggestion is check with all of the potential schools in your area to which you may qualify to apply, and research the classes you may have left to do in order to apply, how competitive they are, their pass rate on the state board exam, estimated cost, reputation and how long it would take you to get started and then to complete. Weight all of the option depending on your particular situation (time you can commit to an education program, finances, convenience, etc.). No matter what your preferred school or program is be sure to apply to more than one, just in encase you do not get in. I have known a number of students as well as nurses that went into the field as a second career and they went a variety of different paths: LPN, ASN, traditional and accelerated BSN and MSN programs. One down side to going back for a second undergraduate degree is that your access to federal aid and loans may be non-existent or very limited. Hence the reason that many opt to do traditional programs as they are cheaper; when I did my associates degree in nursing there was a few students out of our class of 40 that had previously earned a degree. To find accelerated programs in your area or state check out this site: http://www.aacn.nche.edu/Education/pdf/A… For traditional programs check out your state board of nursing's website.

NY Accelerated Nursing BSN programs? We Answered:
I also am going for the accelerated nursing in NY. They usually require a higher gpa than the 4yr program b/c its is more intense and the classes are crammed in. stonybrook has a 1yr program, molloy has a 1 1/2-2yr program. I think canisius, daemen, adelphi, and Pace also have these programs. The minimum gpa's are usually 3.0 but i think at least a 3.3 would make you a good candidate. However, if you do lots of volunteer and work in the healthcare setting they will see that this is something you really want and may increase your chances. Good luck.
