Alternative Careers For Nurses

Joseph Said:

Changing career from a Nurse?

We Answered:

A friend of mine went into occupational therapy after nursing and loves it. Another went into teaching health and social care at a FE college. I know several that did management/IT modules, and now do that within non nhs settings, and another friend, who was a midwife has retrained in primary school teaching.

HELP! INTERVIEW REPORT!?

We Answered:

If you're looking for feedback then I'd say that when they ask for specific examples you're giving broad ideas. Interviewers like to know what you've experienced and how you dealt with it.

For example -

Q18 is definitely not right because you explain why you were upset with mum but it doesn't really connect with nursing. It's just a mother/ son thing about work.

As for q 20 . . . The answer should have been - in a nursing situation, I ask my line manager/ supervisor. In a non-nursing situation I look for more information and decide from what I find out.

Veronica Said:

Is it possible to train as a nursery nurse withou actually working in the field during the training?

We Answered:

There is an element of risk involved with any career change.

Would you leave your child at a nursery with people who had never actually done the job? No way.

Do what it takes to get that real experience, or your degree will be worthless.
