Benefits Nursing Career

Wallace Said:

Is nursing a good career? Benefits and good things about being a nurse.?

We Answered:

In today's funky economy one has to consider education and job training an investment. Earning credentials as a nurse is a VERY sound investment.
There is a large shortage of nurses that is predicted to grow bigger and bigger as the Baby Boom Generation retires.

Miriam Said:

How truly are the benefits from the Air Force Nursing Career ?

We Answered:

The Air Force offers you tangible and intangible benefits. Tangible benefits are things like money, advancement (guaranteed), travel (worldwide at Uncle Sam's expense), training (Professional), recreation, education (professional continuing), satisfaction (job), and security (job)..There are very few Air Force assignments that are considered remote, where your family cannot go with you. Most assignments are "accompanied". Consider all of the benefits of an Air Force nursing career, named above, and compare those same benefits to civilian nursing career opportunities. Go with the one that is right for you. No one can live your life for you except YOU..Good Luck!

Herman Said:

What do I do with my nursing career? I am in my 50`s and I need good benefits.?

We Answered:

You have given no information as to what nursing background you have, even your education. It would be impossible to provide any guidance for a career, especially for someone who should be as advanced in the nursing career (given your age).

If you provide more information, a better and more thoughtful answer could be given, otherwise, I would be giving stupid and general answers to a person who it may not help, like those above.

As far as benefits are concerned, many of the home health agencies provide similar benefits, but some actually hire the RNs as independent contractors, so they pay for the hours, but no benefits. Much like a per diem position. As far as the VA, they have a good benefit package, but have a limitied Community Primary Care Home Inititiative at this time. Most are only located in association with VA medical centers. So those options have significant limits.
