Career Change Nursing

Janice Said:

I am 30 . I have an associate degree in computer networks and system. I want to change my career to Nursing ?

We Answered:

It is very easy to find a job in nursing, but it may not always be at the top money making places or it may not be the exact job you want. The best places to work at as a nurse sometimes do require experience.

Help, want to change my career to nursing?

We Answered:

The question in whether you could have an accelerated degree program would be based on several factors. A degree program in Human Resource Development is more business and some social work courses, and does not have the biology, anatomy and physiology and chemistry and the associated labs courses which are normal prerequisites for nursing programs even at the associate degree level.

Virtually every major university in Michigan has a nursing school from UM to GVSU on the baccalaureate level and most community colleges on the associate level. You need to contact your closest school and determine what you would need to complete a nursing program. There won't be significant differences between the schools in the state, since the requirements to be recognized by the Board of Nursing in Michigan are standardized.

I need change in career thinking about nursing?

Start by talking to your local community college that has a nursing program. They will give you a list fo courses you need to complete before applying to the nursing program. Getting in is generally a competitive process with the best grades winning. The school will explain the system they use for choosing students attention, this is very important!

Next your will have to choose RN vs LPN. I always say go LPN. 1 year more schooling and nearly twice as much money. Plus several times as many opportunities for advancement and a ton more job opportunities. LPN are generally being cut out of many job settings.

Finally you start caking classes. Start by taking the hardest fo the core science classes. They will be the toughest of the classes you will take-and you will find that most of the nursing classes are even harder. This is the point where most people decide that nursing is not for them. Nursing school has very little to do with what you will actually see day to day on the job.

I started nursing school at 39. It has been the single toughest thing I have ever done in my life-and the most rewarding..

Good Luck!
