Yes, many nurses do change careers and don't necessarily need to quit their current jobs to make the transition. Many go onto related careers like nursing management, hospital administration, insurance, healthcare risk management/compliance, and legal nurse consultant.

You can take a year or two off to get a certificate, Master's degree (like in Public Health) or MBA or take classes on evenings or weekends if there's a part-time program near you.

Seeing as you have nursing experience have you considered becoming a diversional therapist, IRT had one advertised a couple of weeks ago, no quals required.

I don't think you would be happy working in retail, perhaps just try for an administration position, theres plenty advertised but unfortunatly theres 10 times the amount of people applying for them.

I live in Shellharbour and have experience in Admin and Customer Service, I have two diplomas and am still stuck in a dead end job. Unfortunatly there is a high level of unemployment in Wollongong.
