An echo tech would have a much lower salary and less room for advancement. If you got sick of cardiac, you would be out of luck. Stick with nursing.

I would think that slp has less stress than RN's. Both need to have a great deal of knowledge about the human body, diseases and the affects of illness on the individual but slp's tend to deal a lot less with bodily fluids. On the other hand, an RN may work with an associate's degree and a slp usually needs a master's. It can all come down to what the person's passion is and what tasks they would be more happy doing each day.
