Changing Careers To Nursing

Terrence Said:

How do I get into nursing.?

We Answered:

For the UK:

I am currently on an Access to Higher Education course as it's been 10 years since being in education for me and none of my qualifications are relevant now. If you already have a degree or something like that you can usually go straight to application if not you may want to consider an Access course to get enough level 3 qualifications to do the course, these are readily available through most local colleges.

In the UK you have to go through a university for 3 years full time or up to 6 part time. You need to get your skates on now or you will miss the dates for application if you want to start this year. Once UCAS (people who deal with all UK university applications) have your application they will send it to the selected universities who will then either decline you at that time (very unlikely) they will probably ask you to attend an interview. The success of this interview will determine if they make you an offer or not.

Also, have a look at UCAS there is a lot of info on there - www.ucas.co.uk

Good luck for the future

Carmen Said:

would changing careers from dental to nursing would be a good thing?

We Answered:

Many students change their majors several times during college. Why did you pick dental in the first place? What don't you like about that career now? What does nursing provide for a lifetime career?

Think forward five years, then ten, then twenty. What do you want out of your life and your professional career?

You may want to seek out counseling to help you make the decision and focus on issues why you have doubts. There is nothing wrong with counseling; that is why it is available to students.

Just remember your career is for you, not a relative or a significant other.
