Community Nursing Jobs

Byron Said:

What can you do after getting a pre nursing degree at a community college?

We Answered:

A prenursing degree allows for you to earn the required course work before entering a BSN program at a university.

Most jobs health-care related will require you to get some sort of certification, at best you could test to become a CNA. Some doctor's office's might hire you as receptionist but they usually prefer Medical Assistants.

If you looking to have a job while going to nursing school, I suggest you get certified as CNA, not only will you earn money but you will learn about nursing especially if you work at a hospital and some of that experience will become invaluable during your education.

Justin Said:

Is there are any different about studying nursing at community college or university?

We Answered:

I'm slightly confused. Are you saying your community college awards a BSN (which I doubt) or an associates degree in nursing? I'll be able to help you more once I know this.

Gertrude Said:

Is it possible to go to community college for Nursing full time and also have a part time job?

We Answered:

Don't worry you'll be okay esp since you live with your parents, yes you may be too broke to go to the movies in the weekend or get the lunch you want but at least you know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and when you get your degree you're going to be making great cash. Anyway try to find a part time job in your campus or somewhere close, but so far I haven't been able to do that myself... I'm an undergrad and live at home, going to apply to nursing school next year. Good luck!

Julian Said:

Im going to get my A.A.S in Nursing at a community college. I start this fall and i would like to get a job?

We Answered:

You could easily get a job as a CNA.

All you need to do is take 80-120 hours of class (depending on the state) and pass a written and practical exam.

The whole process is fairly painless and the pay is fairly good, averaging at around $12 an hour (also depending on the state)
Many companies will actually pay for your training and testing if you get a job with them beforehand.

Beware that the process of getting tested can sometimes take 1-2 months though.

Being a CNA is also great experience that should help you with your studies AND in finding a nursing job right away after you finish school

Nursing jobs? really?

We Answered:

You will never be stuck being an aide, there are plenty of jobs. Maybe not in your area, but whose to say that you won't want to move to another state? There are an abundance of jobs however there is an influx of nursing students as well, some will fail. Some will get out and not like and do something else. I've seen it done. I was an aide, then a LPN, now a RN going back for my masters. There are plenty of different disciplines in nursing as well. You can teach, go into forensics, or research, you don't have to work the floor or be a complacent nurse. Try hospice, or home care or respite care. There is so much to do, you'll have a job, trust me.
