Contract Nursing Jobs

Daryl Said:

I signed an employment contract as a nurse intern for 18 months, however the job is awful.?

We Answered:

Sorry, but you only have one option to stay with the terms of the legal contract that you signed. If you end your employment before the contract is up, it is almost 100% sure that your employer will go after you for the $3,000. And in a lawsuit when both parties have signed the contract, judges tend to follow the exact terms of that contract.

Your employer knew that his job was not perfect, which is why they tied you to 18 months. And if you leave so much the better for them because they will collect your $3,000 quite easily. I have seen employers go after former employees with judgments and liens against the former employee's home.

You are in error about one thing, you are gaining experience. The experience in honoring your word, the experience in staying at a job that you hate for a good reason, the experience in observing how this employer makes the work experience negative. For the next 16 and 1/2 months you can learn how not to do things, and how to be patient when stuck in a unsatisfactory situation.

Kim Said:

We Answered:

Sure

Virginia Said:

suspended from work for unintentionally breaking my contract?

We Answered:

Unfortunately, your main employer has a responsibility to monitor working hours under health and safety legislation, principally The European Working Time Directive. This means that you may have caused your employer to be in breach of the law which can be a serious matter in disciplinary investigations.

I advise you contact your union immediately, or if you don't have one, the ACAS site has a number you can ring for advice. You should remember that Human Resources are there primarily to represent the best interests of the employer.

Melvin Said:

How or where do I apply for a contract job overseas?

We Answered:

The Red Cross may be a good place to start. They hire people to work overseas in mostly 3rd world countries. Now if you want non-third world work you may ask them if they do that or if they know of any other organizations who do things like that.
