How do I get a nursing degree after getting a bachelor's in psychology? We Answered:
Look into programs called "accelerated BSN" or "post-baccalaureate BSN" programs. Depending on what you took for your psych degree and when you completed those courses, you may or may not need to fulfill some nursing pre-reqs. Once you start the nursing core, if you are able to attend full-time you could be done in as little as 18 months. Going any other route (into an ADN program, specifically) would be foolish since you already hold a baccalaureate which gives you the leg up in these kinds of BSN programs.Good luck!

How long would it take to get a nursing degree in Michigan? We Answered:
Many schools have accelerated BSN programs that basically just give you the nursing courses and let your previous bachelor's stand in for all of the general education requirements they would otherwise have. They just require some prerequisites to be taken first (sciences often have to be from the last 5 years). These programs typically take 12-24 months. Even if you just tried for an associate's programs, you would still probably need at least a year or so of nursing courses (and it may take you a lot longer to get through the waiting lists, which are longer at community colleges). U of M, MSU, Oakland U, Wayne State, and U of M Flint all have second degree programs (there may be others...those are just the ones I looked at).Laurie Said:

How long does it take to get a nursing degree? We Answered:
It is a 2-4 year program, depending on what type of nurse you want to become. Liberal studies is a pretty worthless degree when it comes to the real world and applying those credits towards a VERY specialized field. You might be able to shave off a semester, but nursing programs are more vocational than traditional courses. Therefore you generally have to take the complete program.
