You didn't say from what country you are coming from. There are set standards and education needs in the U.S. to become/hired as a dialysis nurse. If the agency looking for you isn't in the Medical field you just might not make the time limit of your visa, Don't depend on this agency as the only way to get a job and come into the U.S.. You're going to have to look alot on your own for resources. There are alot of jobs in different cities and hospitals in the U.S..you have to meet their requirements.

Dialysis nursing is definitely less stressful than nursing in a hospital because the number of situations you might encounter are greatly limited.

I work as a patient care technician in a dialysis clinic, and whenever our patients have any serious problems (cardiac or otherwise) we just call 911 and send them to the hospital because we don't have the facilities to treat critical patients.

As far as pay scale, it varies greatly from area to area, so you might want to look into some wanted adds and call the numbers listed. I do know that what they make is comparable to what other nurses make.

The last person commented that it might be difficult to find a job as a dialysis nurse: I find this to be very untrue. Because of the shortage of nursing (especially in California) companies are offering very competitive wages and benefits, as well as hiring on bonuses.

a couple of good websites to go to about dialysis would be the major companies websites and go to thier job board. I happen to be a dialysis nurse recruiter, so I could tell you a bit though. Basically the dialysis nurses can have different duties depending on how the outpatient unit or inpatient facility operate. In general, they work along with a patient care tech and hook up the patient to the dialysis machine and monitor the patient throughout the dialysis process. They are also responsible for passing out medications sometimes as well to the patients. Typically a dialysis nurses shifts start early in the morning around 5am and run for 12 hrs 3 days a week or 4 days a week for a 10 hour shift. If you do not have the finances to be unemployed for at least 6 months, do not quit. There are different kinds of misery, and being worried sick about bills is a just another miserable way to live. Plus, how would you pay for classes if you are broke?

I do agree you need to change jobs. Before you go back to class, take some time to do some thorough career testing, as it seems that nursing was the incorrect career for you. Don't jump into anything; really think about what you are good at and enjoy, and have the career tests also.
