Flight Nurse Jobs

Billy Said:

what job is better? flight attendant or nurse?

We Answered:

I was a nurse before I was a cop, I think flight attendant would be better. Even though since 911, so many rules and regulations and training for them have been placed in account, I still feel its better. It would take a very dedicated person to do the job of a FA, but the rewards can pay off.

Stephanie Said:

Are there any more jobs in the field of medicine aside from being a nurse or a doctor in a hospital?

We Answered:

There's lots of jobs in the field of medicine.

Most Paramedics are actually firefighters that volunteer and are selected for paramedic training.

Flight Nurses are registered nurses who seek out jobs with medical air transport services like LifeFlight.

Emergency Medical Technicians are found in the fire department and in contract EMS providers. Their training is less stringent that Paramedic or Nurse, and their pay quite a bit less.

I am a Radiologic Technologist. I started out taking x-rays an operating flouroscopic equipment. Now I perform CAT scans. I work very closely with doctors and nurses. My initial schooling was 1 year of general education at college level plus a 2 year radiologic sciences degree program. My pay is comparable to a nurse. And, my working conditions and job security is excellent.

Another great job in the hospital is Respiratory Therapist, their training, pay and working conditions are similiar to Radiologic technologists. Their focus is on repiratory care. They are one of the first people called in the hospital when a patient is in trouble. Nurses and doctors rely on the RT to keep patients breathing.

Operating room technician is another job in the hospital. Their training program is 1 year plus some prerequisite general ed courses. Their pay is generally less than an Respiratory or Radiologic technologists and from what I've seen the demand for OR techs is falling a bit.

There are also jobs for medical assistants, transporters, and lab technicians.

Ana Said:

Does anyone know of any jobs that require a pilot license and a paramedic license?

We Answered:

Some small medivac operators like you to have one, but there are very few flying jobs where a paramedic license would be useful.

Johnny Said:

What does a pre-hospital RN, or flight nurse do?

We Answered:

a paramedic has many job functions, even some that surpass that of an RN but are limited to a set of protocols set by a medical director. So lets say an average of 30 drugs, intubation, defibrillation, thoracentesis, cricothotomuy and a few other skills.

a nurse is limeted to direct medical direction , and in the case of a prehospital setting some protocols. So why they seldom intubate, they can administer any drug, and continue care from the hospital setting like antibotics, manitol etc. also monitoring chest tubes and other things like iv pumps with multiple drugs.... there is some overlap there but you get the idea.

ideally you have both.

By the way as a medic i can say we are more experienced with basic stiuff like scene management and c-spine etc as well.

Dennis Said:

Im considering becoming a flight nurse in the Air Force?

We Answered:

First, as I can't gaurenty(sp?) you won't be deployed, I can assure you that these days, it is unlikely.

Secondly, I would suggest joining the AF right off the bat, you will get all of your education and training right there, no problem. Then, you can use the AF's money to pay for your technical education (getting your degrees etc.) and not worry about it because you already know how to do all this stuff (thus increasing your grades in college). The AF promotes their guys to get an education, so you could go to school with all sorts of benefits. Plus, they wouldn't likely pull you from your education, and if they did, would probably pay for the mix up.

Finally - Air Force on your resume will get you into a better college (1. They'll pay and 2. AF looks good on a transcript).

Of course, talk to an Air Force recruiter before you decide anything -- they'll give you the low down.

Carolyn Said:

Which should I pursue? (psycology, flight attendant, nurse/ doctor ,writing, teaching )?

We Answered:

teaching is great - u get to help kids but it look like u care about covering tutions. Dont

Writing- You could be an author or have a career while writing and publishing.

Nurse/ Dr - high demand - if u can do anything - money can be pay off after graduating. when ur a nurse / dr. Blood and needles.- eww

Flight A. - 20 % pay cut after 911 - not the best, u have be perky and listen to command all day. - there a seniory ladder that u have to climb - there a cut off at 55000 max when u get to 10-20 years. 55000 is the highest u can make. Dont, if u have potenital there are better things out there.

Psychology- good, there more to it, next thing u know u would Analysis anyone around u. I like it

You might want to take classes in ur interest and see.
Do it because u like it.
