Graduate Nurse Jobs

Lance Said:

my husband got stationed in Korea, I'm in Nursing School, going when graduate. Is there nursing jobs there?

We Answered:

Unless you husband has an assignment considered "Command Sponsored" service members are not given orders to cover their family members accompanying them to Korea. In some areas this means the wife is not authorized entry onto the military base, or use of the hospital or the base shopping. If you try to get a position with the US mililitary hospitals there, you will probably be contracted for a period of time, (usually at least 1 year) which would put you there longer than your husband. However, in most cases the military hospitals are staffed by military RNs. Additionally, if you are contracted with a US organization, even in a foreign country, you would need to maintain licensure in a state in the US.

Is it easy to find a job as graduate nurse?

We Answered:

Easy? No. But you will probably find a job somewhere. It might not be your desired shift or floor, but once you are in and established, it isn't too hard to transfer to a different department afterwards. Expect to go through an orientation contract period, which can last a year to two, depending on your union and contract.

Priscilla Said:

Jobs for graduate Vocational Nurses in the houson area?

We Answered:

She will need to pass NCLEX-PN before she can be hired as a nurse.

Try nursing homes, home health agencies, hospitals, and doctor's offices. Just apply to everywhere she can. Worst comes to worst, they never hire her.

Also try looking in the newspapers and on craigslist (link included for Houston LVN jobs).

Best of luck.

Graduate nursing jobs?

We Answered:

Call around to hospitals and speak with their nursing recruiter. You need to start ASAP to get ahead start on your classmates. I hear it's tough in Houston. They will usually hire you three of four months before you graduate. You can work for a certain amount of time as a graduate nurse while you are waiting to take your NCLEX. The nurse recruiter will explain all this.
Congratulations and good luck on the NCLEX!
