Homecare Nursing Jobs

Emma Said:

Is it possible for me to work as nurse in Canada without having an experience?

We Answered:

no because in quebec l`ordre des infirmières is the rule

Julia Said:

My husband says I HAVE TO go to court with him?!!!?

We Answered:

He sounds completely childish to say that we won't show up for court if you don't go! Wow.

I hate to break it to him, but the court DOES NOT care if you are there or if he's even married for that matter. Step-parents don't have leverage in custody cases.

I believe that your feelings are understandable - you have a 4 month old and a new job to deal with. I don't believe that it means that you don't care about the outcome of the case or anything to do with the child. He should grow up and go on his own.

Terrence Said:

i am a nurse having an affair w/a 25yr-old homecare pt, we are in love and he is not at all mentally disabled?

We Answered:

If you worked in a facility and he were a resident you would be severely reprimanded for having an improper relationship with a resident.

If his mom finds out she will probably make it impossible for you two to see each other.

Are you saying you're still married? You really aren't in a stable position to cause such tremendous upheaval in his life. What if his mom won't help him anymore because of what you're doing, then you decide not to be with him. His life would be ruined.

He has a tremendous amount to lose. Perhaps you should tread very carefully.

Craig Said:

Should I go to interview?

We Answered:

Yes - take it as a compliment!

What have you got to lose? Unless you go, you won't know what opportunities exist, and you could find a better paid job with a better employer, offering better experience for your long term career path.

Just one caution - don't tell your existing employer you are going to have a look/interview. You also must accept that the world of nursing is close, so word might slip back in the long term: if you don't take the job, then its a compliment to your existing employer; if you do, it was clearly better for you.

Good Luck!

Fred Said:

How can I start an in-homecare for the elderly. I will hire qualified nurse aides to serve them. Thanks.?

We Answered:

You will have to get licensing, bonding and a business license. You will have to set up a corporation and get insurance. This is a very expensive proposition and in our town there is a lot of competition.

Kurt Said:

How can I get a job as a nurse in the area of Clinical Research Trials? (I'm an RN)?

We Answered:

I see two possibilities from your question:

(1) Do you want a job where you work in a hospital or clinic and you assist with the execution of clinical trials, collecting data, and reporting it?

(2) Do you want a job where you work for a company that is sponsoring the clinical trial and you travel to lots of different hospitals and clinics, checking on the people in (1), insuring that the trial is excecuted properly?

Job (1) is a clinical trial coordinator position at hospital or clinic. Job (2) is a clinical research associate (CRA) position at pharma, biotech, or clinical research organization (CRO).

Of these jobs, the one that is almost always hiring is the CRA at a CRO. It will mean a lot of travel, but it will give you the best on-the-job training for the others. There are lots of CROs in the San Diego area and I have seen them hiring at lots of San Diego area job fairs.

For the CRA position at a pharma and biotech company, they will probably want someone with experience. You won't have to travel as much as the CRO job, but so many of the biotech and pharma companies use CROs that there aren't as many in-house CRA jobs as there used to be.

For the clinical trial coordinator position at the hospital or clinic, you generally have to work through their system. Clinical studies go to investigators because they see a lot of patients with the disease of interest. If it is in oncology, then the coordinator role typically goes to an oncology nurse who has been working with the physician for a while.

There are CRA training programs that may be useful. To test whether they are respected, ask the program managers for information about recent graduates and where they are working. Ask for references from former students. Call the students and see if they were helped in their job search by the program.
