Job For Nurses

Debra Said:

Have you ever quit a job for another to find out wrong thing to do?

We Answered:

I've been in your shoes, but not nearly as drastic. Just I quit a VERY good job at an insurance company because the boss was terrible and I just couldn't take it. ... only to struggle to find another good job and in the time it took me to do that, the boss I hated, was demoted to support level (the same level I was)... .oooh I had wished I was there for that one!!!

So lesson learned for me - don't let one person run you out of a good job...

But I think your lesson is different... you pursued a dream of trucking... only you had some bad experiences. Are you sure you want to quit. Seems like you've learned and now you can handle things better?

Good luck in your decision. Nursing seems "safe", but trucking seems like an adventure.

Question for all the nurses - How long did it take for you to find a nursing job?

We Answered:

When I was a new grad I was emplyed as a nurse one week after taking my boards. However, I was already employed as an aid in that facility. The longest I have waited for employment as a nurse was for 3 wks when I had moved from Florida to Ohio. I think most nurses can find work rather quickly, sometimes it is difficult to find work for the right pay and in the specific field that you want.

What's the best (and most convenient) job board for nurses in Pennsylvania/New Jersey?

We Answered:

Hi,

Here's a place that has a list of many places. I haven't checked it out, but it looks good. Scroll down and you get Pennsylvania too.

Nurses: What do you think of this ABC News article showing how bad the job situation is for new nurses now?

We Answered:

There are still many job openings for nurses, most businesses though hire the experienced ones compared to the new grads so that leaves the new grads frustrated in getting that one year acute care experience, it's really a catch 22.

Many new grads have to be willing to find other job openings outside their state and take on something that might not be their first choice. In my hospital alone, we are still hiring nurses new and or experienced ones.
