Jobs In Nursing Education

Roberta Said:

Will hidden"Nation health care" changes in stimulus bill effect Nursing jobs negatively?

We Answered:

Just from the few scraps of information I have obtained, I would say YES. Nurses in the healthcare field will now only care for patients that have the Governments approval. In a nutshell, older people who’s long term care is deemed as too expensive will not be less likely candidates for healthcare benefits. This will cut down the number of patients and conversely effect the job market for nurses.

Marcia Said:

How will hidden national health care changes in stimulus bill effect jobs in NURSING and health care?

We Answered:

There will be an effect in that health records would eventually become electronic. But that is in most facilities plans at this time, and probably won't significantly affect health care, except that the government may provide funds or low cost loans to health care facilities to help with the transition.

Otherwise the current plans only add additional funding for Medicaid, and the SCHIP programs. These will add work as they are more paper intensive, and they compensate at a lower level so facilities may try to cut back some on cost, but there should be no appreciable affect on nursing as a science. From an occupational standpoint, the economy as a whole will affect the rate in which salaries are increased, but that is to be expected.

Constance Said:

Should i priorities having more of an education or having kids.?

We Answered:

There are some important details missing here - for example, are you married? Does your husband make enough money to support the family without you working? How does he feel about having kids?

If you are married to a husband who wants kids and makes enough money to provide for the family, I personally would go ahead and have children now.

If, however, finances are a big concern or your husband feels ambivalent, going back to school for a bit might be a better option.
