Licensed Practical Nurse Jobs

Tracy Said:

LPNs- Licensed Practical Nurses what kinds of jobs do they take on later in their careers?

We Answered:

Many LPN's take the next step and become RN's. Based on experience and a work ethic, an LPN applying to a nursing program would be a desirable candidate. It is also worth the time and effort to become an RN since you can expect to double or triple your annual income (depending on where you live).

Other things LPN's can "move on" to include; Public Health, School Nursing, Sales, Insurance Companies, Clinics, Fitness Centers, Diet Programs, the military, occupational health in industry, education, and most likely a few more.

Needless to say good luck to you in your career.

Philip Said:

Is it difficult to find jobs as an LPN (License Practical Nurse)?

We Answered:

In the pacific north west, the papers routinely carry stories about how hard it is for the hospitals to find nurses. They have raised the nursing pay to the level my sister in law, by choice, only works 3 1/2 days a week, and can still afford to buy a house, a new car, and go on trips. If she wants to work overtime, she can get all she wants, but doesn't want any.

So yes, in my part of the country you will make a very good living as an LPN.

Darlene Said:

If a Licensed Practical Nurse gets a felony charge unrelated to her nursing job can she keep her license?

We Answered:

I'm an LPN in Pa.To my knowledge,at least in my state,an LPN can lose their license for any felony conviction.I've seen people lose their license over minor things that had nothing at all to do with work, and then I've seen other people get away with things that they should have lost their license for,but didn't.
It all depends on the decision of the state board and how severe they think the charge is and will it interfere with the person's character at work.
A nurses character is very important to the state board,an embezzlement charge may ,in their opinion, show that nurse as having a bad character.
There really is no easy answer, they evaluate each case as it comes to them.I don't know if you have to report it to them, but they can easily find out about any convictions.
Good Luck.

Benjamin Said:

what is the highest paying position a Licensed practical nurse can hold?

We Answered:

LPNs cant go into managment, so it is all field work or staff positions. In staff positions you get paid less, but you get health insurance. you can make the most money doing visiting nursing, depending on how many you do a day.
