Although graduating with honors is impressive, when it comes down to it, no one really cares. Everyone has good clinical skills through school, but that isn't real life nursing experience and they're not going to take anything that is non-nursing as any true experience. Most travel angencies will not hire LPN's over RN's because LPN's are restricted in not being able to give IV push medications (which are so common anymore), some states won't allow them to insert foleys or start IV's, some states won't allow them to take Dr. verbal orders or do chart checks. Although it's probably not what you want to hear, you're best in just getting a good, solid year's worth of experience in a hospital because almost NO real, reputable travel agency would in their right mind hire a fresh graduated LPN without any real experience unless they were absolutey desperate and didn't care what kind of care you gave patients as they feel their staff are expendable. They wouldn't care if you jeopardized your license or not. Travel agencies give minimal orientations and the rules are different state to state.

You're also better off if you start working on your RN degree now to really open up your prospects in travel nursing.

Look at the web site for the Board of nursing in your state to be sure.
I'm pretty sure you are good to go.
If it were a felony, different story.

I believe if you have gotten your LPN degree in Canada, you may need to find out if you need to get one in the US. I don't believe they carry over from country to country. I used to work as a CNA and if I wanted to work as one in a different state, I had to get a CNA liscense in that state. I am not sure which website(s) to check out but I hope this was of some help.

Obviously Dustin P doesnt know about Enrolled Nurses which is what you are equivalent to! You can come and work here as an EN quite easily just get your immigration stuff, oh by the way an EN doesnt earn much less than an RN!!

Traveling nurses need to be experienced. Call and talk to an agency as to how much they look for. Also, ask if they use LPNs at all.
