Royal Oak, Dearborn, Southfield, Troy, Madison and Sterling Hgts.

Anne Said:

Are there any nursing jobs associated with Medical Marijuana?

We Answered:

This is a state issue. In CA, supposedly the marijuana needs to be grown in a cooperative and sold at the dispensary with out profit.

Katie Said:

I am considering trying out medical jobs (mostly nursing)?

We Answered:

1. You could not be a pharm tech or a CMA with a RN degree. They both have their own courses and certificates. You would not want to be a CMA anyway with a RN degree. SO no, you do not qualify for the pharm tech & if you had a RN & applied for a CMA, you would be performing way under your skill set & salary (and would probably be too expensive to hire).
2. For your major--you do not pick bio or chem; you pick nursing--it is it's own school & major; & to be a RN you NEED to attend a school of nursing.
3. Yes, if you have a bachelors already you can transfer essentially the pre-reqs over (except for those required for nursing); or you can do an accelerated nursing program (which in theory is the same concept)
4. You do not need to get an LVN first.
5. Not all radiology departments hire RNs; if they do they have 1 or 2 to help with procedures/give meds. There is not much patient care; its mainly procedure assist/meds. So yes, you would work with the rad techs & under the radiologist.

Good luck. There is a great deal of info on nursing in YA; just look under the topic on old questions

You are right. There is the MA (medical assistant), LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) and RN (Registered Nurse) with many more interesting health careers to go... from phlebotomist, to medical billing and coding specialist, to medical illustrator, to translator.

Medical assisting is best described as interesting, challenging, and highly rewarding. In addtition there are many other related allied health professions that medical assistants may find attractive and worth taking a closer look into.

Many experienced medical assisatant elect to crosstrain or transition into these related fields they move on and up the career ladder. Some of them may combine their practical knowledge with their creative skills and become a medical illustrator, freelance copywriter and author, or educator. Others may apply their talents in areas such as medical transcription, medical coding and billing, phlebotomy, or as medical translators.
