Nurse Anesthetist Careers

Marjorie Said:

Nurse Anesthetist vs Physician Assistant?

We Answered:

They are pretty different and both have a lot of advantages. SO it would just depend on you. Personally, just doing anesthesia & those associated procedures doesn't interest me; I prefer the unknown of full -line patient care. I worked in the peds ICU, the cardio-thoracic transplant unit, the ER, and now in an ER step down, minor trauma clinic.

Nathaniel Said:

need help. Im doing a powerpoint for nurse anesthetist career.?

We Answered:

You should google a school in your area that offers a BSN program and look online at their program information as it usually lists the courses required for the degree. Every school is different.

You can't expect someone on here to do all your work for you, sorry. Part of learning is learning how to find resources without just asking other people to tell you where to look.

Good luck.

How to go from a Nurse Practitioner to Nurse Anesthetist?

We Answered:

You need to make this decision after you get nursing experience. Getting a NP (which will be a doctorate and 3-5 years and $$) to want to then become a CRNA (another 3-5 years and $$) will be a huge waste of the first degree & time & money. As a RN you will be in a better position to evaluate which you want to do before you make that commitment.

Questions about CRNA (nurse anesthetist) career?

We Answered:

I am in my final year of a BSN degree. I am contemplating taking the CRNA route, or becoming a nurse practitioner. I have looked into the CRNA and what i've found that it's incredibly intense. You can't work throughout it (24-36 months) and it's expensive, so you need to tell them flat out from the beginning how you're going to fund your education. They don't want to screen everyone just to have people drop out. So after you can (essentially prove) to them you're financially established to take the courses, its 6 months of theory followed by 1-1.5 years of practical/clinical work.

If you go to allnurses.com, they have forums that have a lot of these types of questions.

Ruben Said:

is nurse anesthetist good career choice?

We Answered:

All I have to say is that one of my friends is a nurse anesthetist and she's happy as a clam with a great income and steady hours. She's actually pretty happy with that, a little bored from the lack of excitement. Mostly she works with plastic surgery candidates. But once you get your degree you can pick where you want to go with it.
Best of luck!
