Jared Said:

what is the salary diff between a nurse practitioner that has opened a private practice?

We Answered:

Opening your own practice (if you live in a state where you can do this--not all allow this) is the least way to make money as you need to buy all the equipment, rent a medical office, pay for staff, license any part of it that needs it, pay for medical waste disposal, medical record keeping, pay for coverage when you are not there, buy supplies and software and run the medical business side such as collections, billing, etc. Someone also has to be available 24/7 for calls and contacts. You get as you "salary" anything left over. You would also need to pay for you takes & own medical insurance. When you get further along in your training, this will all become crystal clear, as to why the vast majority of mid levels work for someone, in a group, or a collaboration.
