How do I start my own nurse staffing agency?

We Answered:

Hi there

As per some of the above links but (not knowing where you are) check with local state and counties as per awards. This seems as if you are thinking of what we call a labour hire company. Ok.

1/ Check the hourly rate you are going to pay the individual
2/Add costings in for superannuation or retirement funds, social security etc
3/ the individuals should be on contract so there may not be a problem above but check anyway
4/ load the rate by at least 28% after adding any on costs
4/Look at your own infrastructure and work back rather than forward. Many business plans fail because they dont work back

In other words, start with what you want ot earn as an income, then what your overheads are and then you can work out your margin based on a projected income base which is the expected amout of custom.

Nursing is a skill shortage are in many countries (developed) and to a degree you can go above the normal rate for your WELL SELECTED STAFF. this is important.

I know the field.

If you want to chat email me anytime

Regards

Alice

Go to http://www.score.org/index.html and in the upper left hand corner, enter your zip code. On the next screen, you will get information in the nearest SCORE chapter. Call them and arrange for a free meeting with a SCORE counselor to discuss starting your nurse staffing company.

SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

SCORE has 389 chapters in locations throughout the United States and its territories, with 10,500 volunteers nationwide. Both working and retired executives and business owners donate time and expertise as business counselors.
