Nursing Administration Career
Emma Said:
health care administration, nursing,or physical therapy? We Answered:
I would do PT or do the nurse practitioner thing or even physician assistant. No one looks like a nurse or a PT. We are all different.Medical field are always in need.
The business world (healthcare is a business) is like a rollercoster in terms of jobs. If you become a PT, you can open your own practice

when in comes to a career in nursing? We Answered:
Well, getting to the point of earning a Master's in Nursing takes several years. You must first become a licensed RN with a Bachelor's degree, so you will have to work as an RN at some point unless you plan on never working and only being a student throughout this whole process. But generally, yes, you need experience. You can't just walk into management jobs without experience working as an RN, and specifically most places will want you to have some leadership experience in a charge RN role or in some capacity where you have supervised others.
As a nurse manager or in an administrative position supervising other nurses, it would be very difficult to understand the day to day operations of how a facility / unit works, the common complaints or issues that come about for the nursing staff, etc. if you haven't been through the trenches and spent your time walking in their shoes.
Nursing education isn't just for teaching in colleges. There are facilities that hire nurse educators to provide training and continuing education to their staff RNs. Their salary is a bit lower than other Masters specialties, but considering that it's usually a M-F 8-4 kind of position and you often have a lot of time off during the summer, and if you work for a public / state university you're getting good benefits as it's a "government" job, so it's not such a bad deal for some people.

My mother went to school at 55 to become a nurse and she made it.She said it was a great experience, all the other students called her mom and they shared there stories and whatever else women talk about. If you can handle the school and a child go for it.I would hope that you would have someone to help with the child because you will have to do a lot of home work. You are on the right track to a better future,It will not be easy but I believe ;t;hat you have what it takes. Good LuckMatthew Said:
What is the outlook of getting a BS degree in Health Administration? Is this a good career choice? HELP PLEASE?We Answered:
Coming from a recent college (undergraduate) and current MA candidate. I think getting a degree in health or education is the best track you can take right now. I did not get a degree in either but many of my friends did and they are have no problems finding jobs. All of my friends who are nurses now were being fought over by hospitals and had a plethora of options for them once they graduated. Teachers, nurses and HC administrators are always in demand you know you will always have a job when you graduate and that is important especially if you are spending the money to get a better job.
