Nursing As A Second Career Programs

Samuel Said:

If I never took advanced maths, will I do okay in biology and chemistry?

We Answered:

You'll need algebra, but you'll also need to be GOOD at it. You don't need calc or trig for nursing.
Chemistry is all take x and multiply it by this or divide it by that (or both in 6 different steps).
Its formulas that you need to memorize.
Inorganic chemistry is ALL MATH.

By the way, you know nursing is glutted right? No jobs. Hospitals aren't hiring anybody.
Anyone who tells you otherwise is treating you like a mushroom.

Evelyn Said:

I need help narrowing down my options for a nursing program.. Can anyone offer some advice?

We Answered:

I looked at their programs and you can't get into a MSN program without a BSN which sounds about right. They have an RN-MSN program but that just means you go straight from the BSN to MSN program without stopping. You will still end up getting a BSN before getting accepted into the MSN program. Like Pooky said the best option for you would be to go into an accelerated BSN program. Also with a bachelors in bio you could probably go into medicine if you wanted. I don't know if you're interested in that but I just thought that might be an option for you. Why not take the MCAT just to see? Oh and you can check out http://www.discovernursing.com/scholarsh… for scholarships in your area. Good luck!

Career Advise Please!! I need to get into a nursing program but I work... does this plan make sense?

We Answered:

You sound like a smart person with a plan !! Going from corporate america to a CNA would not be a good idea. CNA work is hard and dirty. You can take pre-req courses at any school in your area. Look at community colleges in your area or a 4 year college. They have more flexible schedules with evening and weekend classes available.
