Can I pursue a nursing career with a Criminal Record?

We Answered:

If you have a misdemeanor it might be okay, but just check with your college.

Bertha Said:

I need assistance on how to start my nursing career here in the Philippines.Any advice?

We Answered:

I'd like to inform you that starting a nursing career in the Philippines is really tough!

a. I would suggest you take your IV Training and BLS training first. These are usual requirements especially in hospitals in manila. Also, attend other seminars, trainings and workshops.

b. Majority of hospitals are not hiring these days and only accept "volunteer nurses". You have 2 options:
1. Pay the required amount for you to a slot
2. Wait, wait and wait until they call you

c. Complete your credentials and documents. You must have a comprehensive resume and a presentable application letter. Make sure to have your transcript of records, diploma, birth certificate, nbi/police clearance, etc. Also it's best if you prepare tons of photocopies, bring folders, envelopes when you submit your documents to avoid delays. Or if you like, call these hospitals in advance for further information.

d. If possible, you can also start taking your masters degree, MAN or MSN. There are universities that offer MAN/MSN without requiring hospital experience. At least, you have an edge from those who have no units in grad school. You can be a clinical instructor after you gain enough hospital experience.

e. Be active and join nursing organizations! like the PNA, PMHA, Red Cross, RENAP, ORNAP, OHNAP etc.

f. It's better if you work on this with your peers! Ask your colleagues about their experiences so that you could gain ideas.

Hope these things help... God bless!!!
