Nursing Career Goals Examples

Claire Said:

Has your parent ever tried to compare you to your peers if so how to get them to shut the flip up?

We Answered:

This is a tricky one to answer because its not easy to know why Dads do this.

On one hand it could be something to do with him not knowing anything about being a nurse and maybe not understanding what you mean.

He might be thinking that you are talking about getting the job at the hospital but he thinks that you do not have it yet, he could be trying to outline a way for you to boost your prospects.

If this is the case then he has your best interests at heart and is trying to help in a limited way.

He is probably second guessing what you want to hear because he isn't realising how important it is for him to support you by listening. If you let him know just how much he means to you and how much you would like his support it will make things much easier for both of you.

I hope this answer helps because I would like to be more assured when talking with my father too and I am 28!

College essay for Duquesne University ?

We Answered:

The easiest method to find out info is to contact a student. You can find some contact information for New York universities here. http://www.collegereviewed.com/New-York-… Students always seem to know what's going on better than outsiders since they get to experience the classes and the lifestyle.

Jonathan Said:

I have a career in mind, can majoring in nursing help me with this? -Working with kids with cancer?

We Answered:

Pediatric Oncology is the specialty for nursing. You would first need a BSN and work in a pediatric oncology unit for a few years before going back to get your Masters if you were considering being a Nurse Practitioner.

Wendy Said:

what do you think of my UC personal statement?

We Answered:

From an outside point of view, this essay SOUNDS good, but I'm not sure if you really answered the question. There is a lot more describing of your future than connection to your past, which is what the question is about.

Also, some of the phrases you use, such as "matriculate to an institution of higher education" and others, seem a bit pretentious and wordy. I went through roughly nine drafts of each of my application essays with a teacher and each time, he told me to eliminate unnecessary words... Colleges don't want the long, educated phrases. They want to get to know you in the smallest amount of words possible. Get straight to the point, or else the admissions officers will get bored.

Writing college essays is one of the hardest things for me, because I tend to write elaborately with a lot of detail, which is good for some kinds of writing, but not for this. You seem like you have a pretty established writing style though, and your goals are clear, which is really good.

Good luck :D

Applying to a University, please read?

We Answered:

In the first sentence, I would change "brain" to intellect. You might also want to mention that it would challenge you and how you would be challenged.

Have you thought about what field of nursing you want to pursue? Pediatrics, labor and delivery, surgical, general med, hospice, public health, oncology, etc? Why did you chose that field? Do you have a personal story to share?

What makes Duquesne excellent? Do they have a high quality staff? Job placement? Are your practicum hours in a hospital setting or private practice?

I do think that you have a good start, but definitely needs to be expanded. Try using more action verbs. The thesaurus in word should help (assist) with word selection. Good luck.
