Nursing Career Overview

Fernando Said:

nursing major any advice?

We Answered:

I recently switched my major over to Nursing so I totally relate with how you feel. If you have always been interested in health and helping people I would say go for it! Nursing is great because once you get your degree there are so many options out there so you most likely won't be bored. Once you get to clinicals you get general training and this will help you determine which field you might want to work in the future. If you ever feel bored with where you work (such as something calm like a family doctor setting) you might crave something more upbeat and then try out the emergency room. Regardless of what type of Nursing you practice you will always be helping others and it is a very rewarding profession. Good luck!

Paperwork, paperwork, and more paperwork. Accurate documentation is very vital and key as a nurse. Depending on where you work, your days can vary from hectic to simple and slow. Nursing is a field that is ever changing and takes a lot of dedication. Caring and understanding is vital for patients. Be a good listener to know how to plan your care. Nursing school is very challenging and I would advise you to get through that first, then worry about how your days will be spent. If you are not dedicated to the art but are in for the money, it will not work. When you enter nursing school, you will have clinical days that you will spend with a nurse. Usually the 6 am to 3 pm shift. You will know then if you can handle it. It's a great field. Good luck!!

HELP! Can you guys give me career ideas based on these parameters?

We Answered:

you should check out a degree in operations management/ info systems. I know its a little more time as far as training goes but the jobs are good for this right now. a typical job would be a business systems analyst. basically helping companies save money via reduced inventory, more efficient systems...you will be able to find a lot of info online about this career field as it is one of the few professions with growing demand. I only have 1 year left before i get my degree and there are recruiters at school all the time hiring students in this field. Good luck!

Can harrassment charges be filed against me when I haven't harrassed anyone?

We Answered:

Well it is not clear what she has initiated in terms of legal action. The police wouldn't file a criminal case without interviewing you and I don't know if she is able to do that in your state. Not likely.

I suspect she has either filed for a restraining order against you or she has filed a civil suit against you. More likely the first.

She can do it, but when you show the judge the texts and explain (calmly, politely, in a well-thought out and articulate manner, without name calling or drama) what has happened, then he will dismiss the case most likely. And BTW the sending the message over and over is more like harassment, you might consider filing a complaint against her. If it's a civil suit asking for damages or sanctions you might want to file a countersuit against her.
