Nursing Career Plans

Nursing Career?

We Answered:

Lot's of ?s!! CNA's typically make much less and have the lower end jobs, ie nursing homes, cleaning bottoms, etc. LVN (LPN) make more and move up on the scale of care, injections, charts, etc. RN (Registered Nurse) takes 4-5 years and has excellent pay and jobs perks. Most employable is LPN. School hours depend on the program at each school. AT JALC (local jr college) you must pass a test to be admitted. Costs depend on Jr. college or University. Phelebotomy is a different program and shorter and easier but less pay.

Is this a good plan for a nursing career?

We Answered:

I think it's important to be well-rounded and a BSN will give you more opportunities. Good luck.

where is the best place to get a tattoo when I plan to pursue a career in nursing?

We Answered:

I worked in nursing for years before i became a tattoo artist and i had tattoos all over my arms and hands and fingers.

Nursing is one of the few fields where you can be a professional and heavily tattooed with few to no consequences

i'm a girl, and i want to pursue a nursing career but i plan on getting gauges and tattoos..?

We Answered:

Yes, you can actually. My step mom has several tattoos, and as for the stretched ears ,it's fine. I saw an RN featured in a tattoo magazine and her ears where stretched to a pretty noticeable size. Plus, it's not a problem with infection control, like some people believe, and also you can cover tattoos, and remove your jewelry if needed.

Jenny Said:

I am planning to start career in nursing What board exam you have to take to get LVN license? Is it true that?

We Answered:

You take the NCLEX - PN/VN. It is not the same as the NCLEX - RN.

LVN / LPNs are not going away anytime soon, however many hospitals are moving away from hiring them and trying to staff only with RNs when possible. Many LVNs are finding themselves very limited to working in nursing homes and out patient clinics.

It's hard to say what the trend will be in the future with the looming RN shortage. It's possible that we will see more opportunities for LVNs back in the hospital settings.

If you really want job security, being an LVN is fine for the time being but you might want to consider completing your RN at some point.

What is abetter career plan nursing or accounting?

We Answered:

These two areas are so different it is not reasonable to compare. There will always be a need for people to care for the sick as one responder suggested, but there will also always be a need for someone to monitor the cost of performing services. Even hospitals need accountants, so that argument is moot.

You need to decide which of the fields interest you and which you have an aptitude for.

When I was in school, I was accepted to two universities, each offering me a scholarship for the next year. However, one had accepted me based on space in the college of business, and the other based on space in the college of nursing. I took a semester and took basic classes that were entry classes for each. I found that accounting did not appeal to me, and I did not do well in the course; while I excelled in the science classes leading to nursing school.

Each can be a rewarding career, you must decide which is right for you.

Incidentally, my brother went into accounting and is now the Chief Financial Officer for his corporation. He loves what he does, and has been financially successful. I on the other hand, have moved through the levels of nursing, to the doctoral level, I now have a partnership in a clinic, as well as a position at a university. I have also been rewarded, and have no financial issues.

The decision should be based on your individual interests and not the opinions of people on YA.
