I agree with Dave's answer. The cons for some people would be the night hours and short staffed. The salary and vacation are good where I work. We have a program where I live if you already have a degree you can go through an accelerated program which takes a little longer than a year. The pro's are a very rewarding career most of the time....yes we also see the bad side and sometimes really don't understand why people have to go through so much sorrow...then you turn around have a patient you think that is not going to survive..you work and work with this patient, one day you get to see this person leave the hospital..... a couple of years later they come up to you and say do you remember me......what a great feeling this is to know they remember you as their nurse and to see how well they have recovered.
