Nursing Career Schools

Willard Said:

We Answered:

Brent Said:

Is nursing a good career choice? There are so many schools now pumping out nursing graduates.?

We Answered:

Actually, there are fewer new grads being pumped out than you might think. Despite the fact that nursing schools are backlogged for admissions, they are not cranking out grads in meaningful numbers. More nurses are going to be retiring in the next 10-15 years then there are new graduates coming into the profession.

The increased health needs of our society are also showing and causing an increased demand for services in hospitals and clinics, further contributing to the demand for nurses. We are a nation of obese people, filled with heart disease and diabetes and cancers. As a whole, our nation is NOT getting healthier.

As for turn over, nursing is a stressful career sometimes. Nurses by nature are often very caring and compassionate and want to help, so badly in fact that we work ourselves to death, get burnt out, can't do it anymore.

At this very moment in time, some job markets are being hit hard by the recession and hospitals and clinics and other health care facilities are needing to go on hiring freezes. New grads are especially having a harder time right now since they have no experience to get their foot in the door. But there ARE jobs still out there if you're willing to do something other than hospital or clinic work, there's always nursing homes and home care, they almost always need people.

It will all turn around, it always does. The cuts to staffing can only go on so long before patient care suffers, then the hospitals are scrambling to get more nurses back into the fold.
