My wife cant pass the NET test for nursing and wants a diff career any ideas?

We Answered:

If a career has good pay, but a person is not at all interested it it, then he/she can't live peacefully with it. So, choosing career and succeeding depends on her interests and ability.

Being hairstylist pays well if one is a good hairstylist and gets lots of customers or job as a hairstylist in an established parlor.

Nursing career...Is the NLN a really hard test?

We Answered:

Do you mean the NLN admissions test or the NCLEX test for licensure after you graduate?

The NLN admissions test is not hard if you have already taken your science pre-reqs and do well in English Comprehension. I was nervous about that too, since I had been a high school drop out at 16 (earned my GED years later) and was a little older than the straight-out-of-high-school set. I did well on the NLN and got in the 94th percentile.

When I went into my nursing program I was pleasantly surprised to find that the average student age was at least 30. There were a lot of older, non-traditional students. This is common for nursing programs in general, especially the ADN programs. In my class, the oldest student turned 60 just before graduation.

As far as the NCLEX goes when you get there, it's hard, but school prepares you for it. If you knew enough to graduate, you know enough to take the exam. You won't know everything (that's impossible) and will not feel confident that you passed (nobody does). But I tell everyone, it doesn't take someone with Einstein's brainpower to become an RN. Just a hard worker.

Good luck!!!!

Recent nursing school graduate needs advice about career move from SC to CA?

We Answered:

I would first test in CA rather than SC, lots of hsopitals out here and plenty of recruiters looking for you. I would post my resume on the net stating that you are relocating to CA and you will be contacted within days of posting. I suggest you find out exactly where you are moving and which hospitals are close to there. You can call into a hospital and and speak to their HR department and ask what their turnover rates are, and the other necessary questions such as relocation help. The traffic here sucks so choose close to your home. Get your testing done first and then the offers should come in pretty quick and you will definetly have to interview with the companies at least three times in some cases. I was a nurse recruiter previsouly and you are worht money so remember if you use one that you can lose out on relocation and other small benefits because of the fees recruiters charge. Good Luck and repost if you need more info.
