Nursing Careers In Australia

Nathan Said:

can anyone help me with sponsorship in australia ,sydney?

We Answered:

Fortunately for you nursing is one of the jobs identified in Australia as a needed profession, meaning you have one hurdle out of the way. Depending on where you are from and where your certification is from you may need to sit an English test, and have your qualifications translated into English. There is also a possibility you may need to do some study to be able to be certified in Australia, this can cost money and usually needs to be done here in Australia. Getting work as a nurse here in Australia shouldn't be a problem as there is a serious shortage of nurses.

The Department of Immigration site provides plenty of information:

Good luck.

Moving to Australia for permanant?

We Answered:

good move but i am biased.

first things first. if you are looking at migrating go into www.immi.gov.au which will tell you what you need to do in the way of visas, working permits etc. flight costs depend on where you are actually coming from and where you are going to so i suggest you check all the airlines or better still see a travel agent as they can vary a lot. accommodation - some hospitals provide it at a sort of reasonable price. as to a mortgage, i would be inclined to wait until you find where you may wish to settle as there are a lot of options. as to work the first option might be to join an agency which hires out nurses to various places which means you can get to see quite a lot of oz and make up your mind where you might like to settle. in case you are not aware you need to be registered with the appropriate nurses registration board and all states can be different so bring all your documentation on your qualifications with you together with some references and maybe try to apply for registration before you arrive - could probably find that on the net.

nurses are in short supply in oz so you should have no problem finding a job. maybe check the net under say 'nursing positions, australia' or something similar.

you will need to have sufficient funds to survive for a while when you arrive in case you don't get a position immediately which i doubt will happen.

this may take some time to work through but all the preparation will stand you in good stead and make things so much easier and smoother.

good luck.
