Nursing Careers Information

Delores Said:

Nursing careers?

We Answered:

I am thinking about getting a nursing degree too and I found this to be a good and informative website....

http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos083.htm
(its from the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics...it has info for almost all careers, but the link I pasted above will take you directly to the Registered Nurse page)

Hope this helps :)

Nursing careers? Need some information.?

We Answered:

Sure!

Well in the nursing school that I am in I had to start out as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and then achieve my RN (Registered Nurse) license.

It goes something like this:
CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) - Assist nurses
PA (Physician Assistant) - Assist physicians
LPN (Licensed Pratical Nurse) - Advanced nurse assistants
RN (Registered Nurse) - Nurses with a state license
NP (Nurse Practioner) - Nurse with the power to write prescriptions and diagnose some ill patients

BSN (Bachelors Degree in Nursing) and MSN (Masters Degree in Nursing) and both just advanced degress in nursing, which may allow to become a more specialized nurse; such as a nurse whom wants to work specifically as managment, in the nenonatal unit, or as a nurse educator (teaching nursing students.)

Best of luck!
