Nursing Field Careers

April Said:

What careers are there in the nursing field which dont deal with blood...?

We Answered:

There are some nursing positions which are not related to working with a significant amount or in some cases any body fluids. However, these normally prefer nurses with clinical experience.

Nursing, and health care in general is not a paperwork exercise. It is a matter of working with people. These people have a tendency to have body fluids.

You cannot get through school without working with these obstacles which we call patients.

If you are looking to make money working with paper, become an actuary, or an engineer, or maybe a lawyer. Maybe try real estate.

Nursing is for people who want to talk care of the sick, and injured. They have a tendency to bleed!

Ross Said:

What is the best way to get into the nursing career field?

We Answered:

That is what i am doing. This summer i am going to start school to become a Patient Care Technician. And if i like being a PCT, i am then going to further my education to become a RN.

I agree with you. I think that it is best first to start off to become a LPN first before becoming a RN that way you can get a feel for nursing and see whether you will like being an RN or not. Then when you start the RN program you won't feel like a fish out of water, and you will feel more comfortable in the program because you will already have some experience already working as a LPN.

What is the best career in the nursing field?

We Answered:

for nursing and the highest paying would be an RN. you would want to get your bachelor RN. no one really is looking for LPN's but you would get that first and be an LPN then go onto your RN unless you go straight through and jst get your bachelor RN. and that means you can become a DON and such higher than that...hope this helps and good luck!! :) and keep in mind do you want to work in a hospital setting or a nursing home?? i would take the hospital setting iv been a CNA for 7 years and i need to get my butt going to school!!!

Is a nursing career a good field to get into? does it pay well?

We Answered:

it's only good if you want to get bombed by a terrorist whose mad that he can't afford his son's brain surgery

Tanya Said:

I'm kinda grossed out by broken bones and stuff. Is nursing a career field I should be thinking about?

We Answered:

I am an RN and broken bones totally give me the creeps. It makes me want to throw up. I just don't work as an ER nurse or a trauma nurse or an orthopedics nurse!

I'm a labor and delivery nurse.

There is plenty of things that are really gross that nobody LIKES having to see or deal with, but part of being a professional is just sucking it up and dealing with it. You control your emotions and reactions in front of your patient, and if you cannot, you excuse yourself from the room and get other help. You do get used to things as you have more exposure to them.

Dealing with any "gross" stuff is such a small part of what a nurse does, so don't let it deter you.
