Nursing Home Employment

any R.N.s out there or people working in a nursing home?

We Answered:

In my 25 plus years of nursing, I was never asked to take a drug test.

Matthew Said:

how do i search the web for employment within a laundry/linen department within a hospital/nursing home in tx

We Answered:

Most hospitals do not advertise entry level positions on a general web site. Instead, you go to each hospitals website and look for its Jobs link.

However, in many cases, you are expected to leave a paper application at each hospital and nursing home. Hospitals like to know that you will be able to get to work, and this is how they find out. Look for hospital addresses in the Yellow pages phone book.

When a job becomes available, the hiring department calls applicants for interviews. Sometimes the job doesn't even get on the hospital web site - because someone in the appliant pool was hired.

Job hunting is hard and exhausting - Good Luck!

I need to know if I should take action... Man with child abuse conviction working in nursing home.?

We Answered:

Yes, you should do something. Check and see if your state has something called Adult Protective Services. If they do, contact them and tell them what you know, including what prison he was sent to. Ask to stay anonymous. If there isn't an APS where you live, ask Child Protective Services who you should report this to. And thank you for caring. Good luck!
