Nursing Job Salaries

Salvador Said:

which field is more job garanteed BSW or nursing. which will get u a job right out of school. I already hold

We Answered:

I'm wondering the same myself but I've done a ton of research on both because I'm very indecisive, I like both. Getting a social work degree(msw), sets you up for jobs in government, courts, health, public health, social services(adoption, family, etc)psychology, and the pay is decent and there is considerable growth. Nursing, is of course a fast growing career, and like said has a lot of mobility and in the health care field, lot of case management(which is basically, what a health social worker does) are now handled by the RN's and I talked to an RN and she really enjoys it. Pay is better in long run, and both careers are lucrative as teaching jobs as well. I'm soul searching to see which I would rather do, I have an opprotunity to do either and have to decide by this spring. I would think it would depend on what hours you are looking for, what kind of satisfaction you want, and why you want to go into both in the first place. Good luck!

Barry Said:

Is a job in nursing or real estate better?

We Answered:

Nursing is more stable and in demand. You'd be surprised how many people have tried real estate at one time or another and failed.

question about job salaries in Belgium?

We Answered:

It will be hard to raise a family with such a salary if that is the only income. But if both parents have a job, you will not be poor. Actually, if you start working for the government after leaving school, you will earn a bit more than a similar job in a private company. But your salary will stay the same so after some years it will be less. On the other hand, if you get a "statutory" job, you can almost not been fired and you will have a very good retirement.

Income tax in Belgium is NOT 50%, that is the maximum on the part above 34.330 euro yearly income. You pay even no income tax for the first 6.430 euro (this is higher if you have very low income or have children). The average income tax will be between 30 and 40%.

In Belgium everyone pays 13.07% social security on his income. With that money a lot of medical care is paid, like replacement income if you get sick for a long time or have no job.

So in Belgium and in the rest of Western Europe I guess life is better for low and average incomes.

Hector Said:

Does the name of the school (for nursing) matter for job prospects?

We Answered:

Nope, not generally. What matters most is that you passed your licensure exam to earn your RN. As long as your school has a nursing program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE, you're fine.

Alan Said:

Which job is more flexible, in demand, and has a good starting salary? Nursing or Computer Majors?

We Answered:

Nursing is a good sentimental choice, as there is a shortage in the US. Nursing does need a fair amount of education, and the working hours can be tough unless you get into a private practice.

Personally I would think that computer majors have a bit more flexibility, as you can work in any industry -- finance, government, hospitals for that matter, etc. The amount of training that you need differs somewhat role by role. And the earnings potential at the top end is much higher than nursing.

Good luck!

Bryan Said:

Can I get a job with an associates in nursing while working on my bachelor?

We Answered:

Yes, you can. But if you plan on landing a job, don't let money be the focus of your interview.
