Occupational Health Nurse Jobs

Margaret Said:

Geography Professor or Health Care Professional?

We Answered:

Go with occupational therapy. Even if you do get a job as a professor that doesn't guarantee you a high salary, and that's not a field that has many applications if you can't find a job as a professor (and there are many more people out there who want to be professors than there are jobs).

Career Options???

We Answered:

go with the one that you feel comfortable with most.... the one that you think has more opportunities. it's hard to get jobs now even with a degree.. so make sure whatever you pick theres alot of places looking that are or will be looking for that specific title you know?

Jerry Said:

Medical fields involving some creativity?

We Answered:

I have also heard of recreation therapy, dance therapy and music therapy. Of course, sometimes nurses, doctors and naturopaths have to come up with "creative" plans for dealing with different types of clients, but that is not the same as using creative skills and helping others to use theirs.

Good luck

Joseph Said:

according to the new health care plan?

We Answered:

Nurses will be in demand even more due to the shortage of doctors that is going to occur due to the health plan. Nurses will be relegated much more medical care. Furthermore, nurses can work in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, surgery centers, and govt agencies.

Jessica Said:

Need serious help in choosing a career in the health/science field.?

We Answered:

Sheets,
You have a pretty broad net of career paths listed above. Perhaps some introspection is in order.
Try answering a couple questions for yourself (in writing - yep, really, in writing - we put the real stuff down when it's a record):
What will I do in my dream job in 'physiotherapy'?
What went well in my 1st year studies? Not so well?
What is different now from when I started? (just grades? or other learnings?)
If I find that dream job, that I have a passion for, what's it worth to me? What am I willing to do to learn/excel at it?

Now look at your list of possibles after thinking seriously about where your passion lies and pick the top 3 that appeal to you. Go and see a career path / course study counselor and talk to them about all of the above and see where it takes you.

If you can get to a list of 2 or 3 things that you really (!) feel passionate about, seek out a summer internship. Sometimes the practice of knowledge topics we're drawn to aren't real fits for our personality, sometimes the knowledge topics of what we want to practice are turn-off's, and sometimes we have a fit on both sides of the coin. You need to learn about the knowledge areas and practice areas that interest you and find where they cross. A counselor will hopefully help in this part of the discernment.

Go For It! Find the fit and let yourself dive in without the worries.
