Pediatric Nurse Career

Judith Said:

what do i need to do to become a pediatric nurse ?

We Answered:

I have a lot of respect for nurses, they have a tricky job, but still many peeps are attracted to this profession. I uncovered some good instruction on the site in the box below, it aided my sister to embark on the road to becoming a nurse, she is in her inaugural term of training now.

Stephanie Said:

how long does it take to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and is it a rewarding career?

We Answered:

It takes seven years. Four year of undergraduate and then three years in grad school. One plus is that you can work as a nurse (after testing and licensing) after a year or two of grad school. It is an extremely rewarding career for those who love children, and have an interest in medicine.

Clifton Said:

What do you think of Pediatric Nurse for a career?

We Answered:

If you like kids, don't mind seeing them sick (I don't know how the ones in PICU don't cry every day), can get through the science classes of nursing classes and don't care about puke, blood, pee/poop, phlegm, it would be a great career.

Bertha Said:

GED, pediatric nurse, Western Career college?

We Answered:

A pediatrician is a MD; so I highly doubt you are going to Western Career College for that. Are you asking if you are getting a GED at WCC or a RN at WCC? Or a LVN? Better would be to get your RN at a community college.

Irene Said:

should my career choice be a pediatric nurse?

We Answered:

Why don't you talk to a student counselor to determine what would be best for you? You can like kids but not have to work with them. If you love astronomy so much, look into that type of profession. I am sure there will be jobs out there. Look into the cost of education for both, they length of time you would go to college and then think about what you want to spend your life doing?

Do you really want to work with children? Can you handle really sick kids and watching some of them go through tragic experiences or possibly die? Would it be rewarding to you to help them heal?

Or do you love astronomy enough to do that as a career? What would be rewarding to you in this field?

Talk to some advisors in school and weigh both careers. If you can't make up your mind, start out taking classes that are required for both degrees, then make the decision.

Good luck with your decision.

Ray Said:

Whats a great college to go to if a want to be a "pediatric nurse" as my career?

We Answered:

You can probably get an ASN (associate's degree, registered nurse) at your community college (2 years) then do an RN to BSN (bachelors of science in nursing) at UCLA (great school for nurses!). BSN's are preferred to ASN's at many great hospitals. Try and volunteer at mattel children's hospital, it will be great experience and will help you get the job.

Expect 4 years for an RN with a bachelors.
