Become a nurse practioner through Job Corps?

We Answered:

To become an NP, one must get their bachelor's of science in nursing (BSN) and then work to get their master's degree in an NP program. (Programs may actually be switching over to the doctoral degree level too.)

I wonder if you're actually referring to 'practical nursing', also called a 'licensed practical nurse' (LPN) with about one year of training such as through a county vo-tech school or community college.

Regardless of which trade or career that one pursues, please forgo those private $$ tech schools and consider the more affordable county vo-tech school or community college as previously mentioned :)

For general career information: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'registered nurses' (brief mention about NP), 'licensed practical nurses' or such.

Further information by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners: http://www.aanp.org

**Please only consider programs that are accredited within the industry.

For US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ

Please steer clear of those online, for-profit schools (not many nursing programs online anyway) even if they have 'bricks and mortar' buildings or if 'accredited' such as penn foster, US career, capella, sanford brown, university of phoenix, keiser, devry, strayer, ITT tech, stratford career, kaplan, everest, ashworth, career step, remington and others as they are merely out to 'make a profit' (and course credits may not transfer'): http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.

With prerequisites for college programs, it's best to check with the school(s) in which one would like to transfer to Before taking those courses and finding out from 'admissions' whether a particular course transfers or not. For example, college 'human anatomy' may Not transfer where as college 'general anatomy and physiology' may do so.

Please do call someone at Job Corps (just fyi that 'corps' is pronounced as 'core' :) and ask them specific questions about their program.

It is also recommended to volunteer in a health care setting (typically non-direct patient care) to help you figure out if you're suited for that particular field: http://www.volunteermatch.org Hospitals and/or nursing homes may have a need for junior volunteers. One can just ask to speak with the Volunteer Coordinator or such.

Enrique Said:

how to get license practice nurse in australia..?

We Answered:

I work in Australia as a registered nurse you must be registered with the nurses board. If you have a look at their website they can explain what kind of experience you need and if you need to do a conversion course at university. Each state has their own nurses board.

Try these websites:

this is the nurses board of WA
www.nbwa.org.au/

this is a nursing agency that has info on international nurses

Hope it helps
