Average Income- Depends on geographical area and also depends on what type of nurse are you trying to become. Are you wanting to be a Staff Nurse( which is basic) or do you want to specialize in something. The starting range is $55k on up.

You can go to community college and get your associates. Get a job( a hosptial will be best) , then go to school online for BSN.

Im in process of going to nursing school. My grandmother is a nurse. Im going to get my Associates first, then go online for the bachelors. After that, i hope to go into the Nurse Anesthesit program which helps the anesthesilogist give anesthesia. They make a good $144k year.

Also you might want to get your STNA certificate and maybe work part time on the weekend as an STNA so you can get some clinical behind you.

Nursing has many positives. There are many different schedules for people that don't like the 9 to 5, and there is even the 9 to 5. There are a huge number of options and areas of specialties. You can become an RN through a community college, which is cheaper and finish your BSN to expand you career opportunities. The pay is good but the work is hard and you are responsible for some very serious health situations. If you can't stand working around blood, poop and pee then it is not the job for you.

A nurse practitioner is a RN, with extra training who works directly with a doctor. The NP can prescribe certain meds, make some diagnoses and is directly involved in patient care. If you wish to become rich rich rich, then nursing isn't the answer. I can't see you owning a million dollar home after ten years unless you save every penny you make. People do not go into nursing for the money, but they do make a respectable living.
