After finishing two year college majoring nursing, can I then take the exam to get a registered nurse license? We Answered:
You can take the the test after completing and two years course and be an RN. You should know that the two year program which is the nursing classes comes AFTER about two years of prerequisites, so the whole thing from High School to RN takes about 4 years. You will have an associates degree in Health Sciences as well as the RN.If you do the same thing but attend some more classes you can can graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing as well as the RN. A BSN will qualify you for nursing management although many staff RNs have it and are not management.

How much does Private College for Registered Nursing cost?We Answered:
Have you ever heard of "caveat emptor"? It's a Latin phrase that means "let the buyer beware"."Schools" like this exist all over the US and serve one purpose--- to make money. It's a business operation, not an educational institute. They promise a quick degree and no waiting for clinicals, but won't even list their tuition costs on their website and you must speak with one of their "admission counselors" (sales reps), before they provide you any info!
Go to the website of any community college or state university and see that you can find out everything from costs and admission requirements to the current class schedule. They have nothing to hide...these "for profit" schools sure do, though!!
Here's a link to the NLN website that shows accreditied Schools of Nursing (being an accreditied college and being accredited by the NLN are totally different things). Chances are, if you went to a non-accredited school, your chance of being eligible to take the NCLEX to be an RN is not very good and nearly every decent hospital in the US will not hire an RN that didn't get their training from an NLN-accreditied school:

If you pass a Nursing class in College, does that course make you a registered Nurse ?We Answered:
What do I need to begin a Registered Nursing (RN) Career? Each state has a Board of Nursing which is responsible for setting requirements and licensing nurses who practice in that state. To earn a professional nursing license, you must pass a comprehensive nursing test, called the NCLEX® examination, which is administered by each state. But to qualify to sit for the NCLEX examination, you must first complete a nursing education program that is approved by your state's Board of Nursing.
Many states also require continuing nursing education after you are licensed to keep your nursing license current.
What types of Registered Nursing programs qualify me for the NCLEX examination?
There are three nursing degree options:
•A hospital diploma program
•An associate's degree in nursing program
•A bachelor's degree in nursing program
To understand the differences between these different options, learn more about these entry-level nursing degree programs.
What are typical nursing school prerequisites?
Each nursing school has their own set of prerequisites and requirements for admission, but this section gives you some general guidelines for what to expect. Be sure to consult the detailed requirements for each school before applying.
•SAT or ACT exam, minimums vary widely by school
•GPA range from 2.0 to 3.25, depending on the school
•3 years of math, including geometry and algebra II
•3 years of science, including biology and chemistry
•4 years of English
•2 years of foreign language
Most BSN programs at 4-year colleges require that you first apply to the college or university, and then after completing prerequisite courses at the school, you must apply to the nursing program specifically. There are no standards here, so be sure to check with each school on their procedures.
How long does it take to become an Registered Nurse (RN)?
•Nursing Diploma: 3 years
•Nursing Associate's Degree: 2 years
•Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN): 4 years
•RN-to-BSN: 2-3 years

Good colleges for nursing? RN (Registered Nurse)? We Answered:
Any college or university accredited by the NLN is just fine. Nursing is not a career that depends on graduating from an Ivy League school! Here is a link the the NLN's site to find out what schools of nursing are accredited:

As long as you stay away from those "for profit" schools that advertise things like "Be an RN in 18 months" or "Become a nurse with our online degree" you should be just fine.
