Registered Nursing Degrees
Rafael Said:
I am interested in Registered Nursing. Can anyone tell me what degrees I should obtain? We Answered:
I would get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Sometimes they have a slight advantage. In the bay area you can make anywhere from 30 to 40 dollars and hour starting out and upwards of 40 to 60 once you have some years of experience. I personally went to school in the south (Southern University School of Nursing).Nursing is awesome and always in demand. I would advise pursuing this dream!
Good luck!

What are the different types of degrees in Registered Nursing? which is best? and pays more?We Answered:
Degrees:Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (either BSN or BAN)
Master's Degree in Nursing
Doctorate in Nursing
Which is best? That's up to you to decide, but generally speaking, the higher the degree you have, the more you are worth.
Types of nursing? Google it. There are way too many specialties to list here. As a RN of any level, you can work in any number of specialties. When you earn a master's degree, you can further your education to specialize in an area of interest and become a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, etc., or you could be a Nurse Educator and teach or provide education to staff in hospitals, etc. CRNAs are specialized in anesthesia and usually make the best money (starting at $100k per year). You can get a master's in Nursing Leadership / Administration if you're interested in managerial jobs. The possibilities are endless.

What degrees are related to Nursing? We Answered:
if you want to become a registered nurse, then try applying to the BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) program at your school, or the school you will be going to. If you're in a BSN program, you'll gain the knowledge and skills necessary to pass your RN test and become an RN, if that is your goal.It is possible to double major in something unrelated if you have the desire to do so, though it will take extra time in college/school.

Can I just go to community college for Registered Nursing degree ?We Answered:
You can do either if you only want to be a regular RN. I heard that if you want a specialty or have a higher position (like head nurse or administrator) then you need to have a 4 year degree in nursing from a nursing accredited university (like san jose state or even better, UCLA)A community college that is accredited in nursing will help you become an RN (you must get accepted in to their program) but you dont really "move up the ladder" if you know what i mean. If you are ok with that then community college is perfectly fine.

Will I be able to find a good paying job with an associated degree in registered nursing? We Answered:
My niece went your route - she's an ER nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital, and they took her even before she got her license. She makes great money and is very happy in her work. So, yes you can, you can make decent money, and you can work in a hospital.Jimmy Said:
What is the difference between an AS and a BS in registered nursing? We Answered:
Here we go again....I am an Assoc degree nurse who happens to be a Dir of Nursing. I have never seen wage differences between a AS or BS degree nurse when they first come out of school. They are all offered the same. Where you MIGHT see the difference is down the road in higher management work. But, most job opportunities at that level usually state BS OR equivalent, which means, if you have the experience, they will accept that.
