How Can I Get A Masters Science In Nursing???We Answered:
There is another route - you can earn your Associates Degree in Nursing, then some schools offer an RN to MSN track where you take the first year of the BSN completion program then skip the "senior year" of BSN courses and start the MSN courses. It shaves off about a year's worth of school.Usually master's degree programs are very specific and have a focus - such as pursuing Nurse Practitioner certification or similar, and for those clinical specialties you also will need at least a year's worth of work experience in that specialty before any master's program will accept you.

I am in 10th grade and i am thinking about becoming a nurse.?We Answered:
You need Chem, Biology, Physics. Also, if there is a Psychology or psychology-like class (sorry, been outta highschool for 20 yrs.).You can't do prerequisites unless your school has a program for a bridge-in to a local college. I've heard of some high-school students taking college courses (in the summer) under certain circumstances or agreement with parents/school. Check it out with your school counsellor.
Nurses and physicians come from two very distinct disciplines. Our jobs are very different. A lot of people view nurses as 'too dumb to be Dr.'s'.... that's not only rude, but untrue.
Physicians diagnose problems with patients. Nurses physically, psychologically and sometimes spiritually, help patients.
Nurses not only wipe bums and take temperatures.... I for one, work in the I.C.U. (intensive care unit). Here, we look after very sick pts. on life-support, intra-aortic balloon pumps, Ventricular assist devices, renal dialysis machines... I mean that we potentially look after patients on SEVERAL of these machines at the same time! The work is interesting and rewarding. As a nurse, you can also get your Bachelors degree, your Masters Degree and even PhD.
You can also travel-nurse locally and world-wide (Dr.'s need to take board exams all over again)... as a nurse, you have flexiblity of work (I work part-time and go to school part-time, own a car, a condo and have a dog). If you get tired of one area of work, you can move departments.
Think about it... if you were a banker, you can only switch institutions. If you were a real-estate broker, ... You get the point.
So, you have to decide what kind of life-style you'd like to live, cause it isn't just about the job.
Last point to consider... in the next 10-15 yrs. there will be a shortage of nurses world-wide... it's starting now. The reason is because most of the 'baby-boomers' will be retiring and there are fewer people going into the area of nursing. This could be bad... or it could be good. You'd have the pick of your job and we would have more control about how much money we make. As it is, there are $thousands in recruitment and bonuses for travel/foreign nurses.
Good luck.

Would there be any difference if i used the NROTC scholarship for nursing school or another career pursuit? We Answered:
Generally ROTC scholarships are tied to the field of study you start in, so if you get a scholarship for engineering and decide to go for nursing, you'll have to re-compete for a new one (although if you have a scholarship, and want to move into a field they need more, then it's usually a gimme). As for ROTC requirements, there is no difference based on your major. The only difference may be incentive pay you could get for specific career fields AFTER you graduate (i.e. I know doctors, lawyers, and us pilots got bonuses). Not sure about nurses, although I can see them getting them since they are needed. Engineers generally don't have bonuses.
Arthur Said:
Tell me plz the kind of health requirements I should have if I want to go for nursing career ?We Answered:
Here in my state (NC) they only require all childhood immunizations and a TB screen. It does help to be in great shape . . . heavy lifting is sometimes required in nursing. You will also need the Hep B vaccine, and current tetnus wouldn't be a bad idea. Learn to function without sleep for all those times you are called back in to work, and the times natural disatsters strike and no one else can get to the facility to releive you, or you are one of the few that can get there.
