Resumes For Nursing Careers

Rodney Said:

Any advice for me on pursuing a nursing career?

We Answered:

Never give up on your dreams. Faith doesnt put you through anything that you can not handle.

As far as school. Shoot, go to school and get financial aid for school. You may have to get a student loan. If so, do it. You can pay it back when you graduate. Plus you will get a stipend which is income. Again you have to pay it back.

You might have to try through a temp agency or something for the STNA( that is what we call it where I live)

Samuel Said:

would knowing french look good for nursing?

We Answered:

Latin would look good for nursing considering many medical terms come from Latin. Otherwise, nursing isn't something that really looks at language unless you wish to nurse abroad.

Debbie Said:

Is it weird if my fiancé and I both become nurses?

We Answered:

If you are both in the same profession you will have lots to talk about & it's better because you will both understand the job.You may even work in the same facility although that can be good or bad (too much togetherness).I've worked in a hospital where married nurses worked & they didn't have the same interests (nursing specialties were different) but were both making good money by working in ICU and the ER on the night shift.Your BS should be in Nursing (Political Science definitely won't help you) but you can still be working for it & also working as an RN at the same time. With the jobs tight in some areas you may both have to work odd shifts though at the beginning but you both should be making at least $50,000 each (not bad for beginners) but also look at other specialties to work in. My BS was in Biology (in the '70s) but it didn't stop me from working in Administration for over 20 years & getting other jobs. The fact that you are getting your BSN will be a plus so go for it & good luck.

Well. kinda depends what part of the country you are in --it only really really becomes important if it is worth something to the employer. If you spoke spanish that would be important in Arizona, Texas, Cal etc. Otherwise, it's interesting but probably would not elevate you above another qualified candidate.

Rene Said:

Is experience volunteering at a Hospital good on a resume when applying for a job at a hospital?

We Answered:

Defiantly, I was considering going into physical therapy and that’s what they suggested. It gets you used to the environment because nothing else really compares to it.
