Rn Nurse Jobs

Tracy Said:

How long does it take for a RN nurse to get a job after graduation?

We Answered:

I began working as a student nurse technician several months before I graduated from nursing school, and then I was guaranteed a nursing position as soon as I became a GN.

Honestly, no matter where you want to work, I don't think you'll have any problem finding a job in nursing. The hiring around here has slowed down considerably, but graduate nurses are still able to find full-time employment.

If you are currently a nursing student, I recommend that you find a job as a student nurse tech or CNA. That will greatly increase your chances and ease your transition into working as a GN.

I graduated in March of 03 and took the NCLEX in April. You apply for licensure first, then you submit your application for the NCLEX. When you apply for the NCLEX, you receive your Authorization to Test (ATT) and then you can schedule the date and time with your local testing center.

It sounds complicated, but it's not that bad.

For information about the test itself, see this link:

What are the jobs of a RN Infusion Nurse?

We Answered:

Infusion involves intravenous (IV) lines/ports. You would need to be able to insert, assess, flush, remove, and administer medications via the IV line. It's not a job for a new RN. You need hands-on experience first.
Bathing patients may or may not be a part of a nurse's job, depending upon the setting. In an ICU, for example, the nurse may have one or two patients and s/he needs to bathe them because it has to be done carefully and is part of the physical assessment. But in a doctor's office or a nursing home, the nurse may never bathe a patient.
When you are older, you will perhaps understand how to look at the person as a whole and not dwell on individual tasks that you may think are repulsive. Then, you can train to be a nurse.
