Josephine Said:

What would be the average salary or hourly rate for a nurse who is just beginning and passes the NCLEX-RN?

We Answered:

It all depends on where you live, the facility in which you work for, and the shifts you are working.

For the most part, a new RN in the midwest, working in a large hospital setting, can expect anywhere from $22-25 an hour, plus a few dollars more on the hour for evening or night shift.

The Boston/NYC area and the LA area are going to pay more based on their cost of living, just like the South is likely to pay a little less because of the lower cost of living (as long as you aren't in a big city like Miami or Atlanta)

What is the starting Salary of a Registered Nurse (RN) in South Florida?

We Answered:

I make $45.00 an hour as a travel nurse. I travel the US. They pay all my housing costs and I get to pick where I want to go. I paid a total of about $20000 for my schooling. My employer reimburses my loan payments monthly. I work all through Florida, both travel and as local agency.
It is a tough job, but if it was easy, everyone would do it.
To start in a hospital, not agency, your looking around $20-$25.00
To start and work long term care it will be higher. Work a year local and then go agency/travel.you wont regret it. just my two cents:>)

RN Nurse Vs BSN Nurse Salary?

We Answered:

The salary between the two won't matter in the beginning. It IS worth getting the extra education for the BSN in the end as you progress through your career though. I have worked in healthcare (RN) staffing for over 15 years and I promise that many of my clients require a minimum of a BSN for any type of leadership position. Although many ADNs have advanced, that is not the future of nursing and many I know have now been going on for the MSN. The BSN opens many more doors for you in the future and can help you fast track through jobs better than an ADN.
