As a CNA will a hospital or nursing home pay for me to get a Associate degree in Nursing(RN)?We Answered:
Yes, some hospitals will pay for a nursing student to go to school. Everything depends on the hospital. In some cases, they will only offer these financial services for current employees. In all instances, you will need to sign a contract agreeing to work for them for some duration (usually around 2 years) after obtaining your RN license. Most hopitals that I've seen that had these programs would not start any financial assistance until you were officially accepted into the nursing program, so you should plan on taking your prerequisites without hospital help. But as I said, it all depends on the hospital and what they are willing to do. Check with as many hospitals in your area and ask - usually these programs are setup in their human resources department.
As a good example, I applied to one such program when I was finishing my prerequisites for a BSN program. As soon as I got my nursing program acceptance, the hospital that I wanted to work at signed me into their assistance program, and paid for the rest of my tuition and books. I also got to work in their student nurse program (much like a nursing assitant work). All in all, it was a big help for me and got me through school with very little debt.
