What are the Best Nursing Schools in Pennsylvania ?

We Answered:

Are you looking to attend classes in a traditional university class room setting? I know there are also some great schools that offer some of their courses online to help you with scheduling. The site below has some well written articles on health care and nursing degrees. Hope it helps.

Monica Said:

What percentage usually of the current student population to nursing schools usually recruit each semester?

We Answered:

Well if you're trying to figure out how hard it is to get in the program that won't help, it also won't tell you how many people apply to the nursing program, it only tells you how many get in. In my school this year there were 360 applicants for nursing and 180 seats, so only half who applied got in. I know that where I'm from there is no recruiting, theres an overflow of potential student nurses who are trying hard to get into the program.

How to get info about nursing schools?

We Answered:

Check your local area first for vocational schools that offer LPN programs; also check with your local hospital; some hospitals will pay tuition for you to go to school especially if you are going to be an Rn. There are thousands of good nursing sites

Kristin Said:

Are there any nursing schools out there that do not require pre-reqs?

We Answered:

Even if you find a program that doesn't require a chem course, you will still learn components of it during your nursing program, and you will be required to use algebraic math in order to calculate medication doses and IV drip rates. The math isn't that hard, but if you put up this mental block saying "I'm no good at math" then you're setting yourself up for failure. You can get help. Most colleges offer some kind of tutoring service (free) and your job as a student is to ask questions of your instructor if you are not understanding something. Use their office hours to get individualized help if you're too embarrassed to raise your hand in class.

Good luck.

Should nursing schools lower their standards due to the shortage of nurses?

We Answered:

While I think there should be grants in place to hire more faculty and increase pay for instructors, there is absolutely no way nursing programs should lower their standards.
People lives are depending on the critical thinking skills of a well educated nurse. Nursing school is designed to give you these skill while weeding out the incompetent. Nursing school is rigorous and intense and that should never change.
Even if a person has the heart and the determination to do the job doesn't mean that they should.
