Second Career Nursing

plz help- I am a nursing student, a mother of 4, and married. I;m having second thoughs on career choice. HELPWe Answered:
You really have to ask yourself why you're having second thoughts... Is it that school and family commitments are conflicting? How far into your schooling are you? Have you started clinicals and just finding you don't like it?Nursing is not for everyone and there are a lot of people in the field who, in my opinion, shouldn't be. It's really a career you have to love. It has it's ups and downs and depending on what specialty you choose and what type of field you end up in, it can be depressing.
On the flip side, it's also very rewarding! There's nothing like knowing you did the best you could to make someone's day better, either with a kind word, easing their discomfort or even saving a life. The money's definitely not bad and, depending on where you're working, the hours can be pretty flexible. Most of my nursing friends work 3 days on (12 hours) and four days off but there are a few with normal 8 hour days.
If your second thoughts are coming from balancing school and work life; just remember there is an end to the tunnel. You're probably not as out of control as you feel you are. Sit down and have an honest talk with your husband. If you don't feel like that right now, find 5 minutes for yourself and sit down with a writing tablet and start writing. Don't think about what you're writing, just write. You'll be surprised what you're really thinking versus what you think you're thinking.
Good luck!

Help with college career (Nursing)? We Answered:
you should go for it. girls are construction workers and race car drivers, i doubt anyone is gonna say anything about you wanting to be a nurse. plus, male nurses are sexy. but i guess you could be an EMT, there's plenty of guys that do that and the they can either work in the emergency room or drive the ambulance =]Cory Said:
