Student Nursing Jobs

Frederick Said:

What jobs can I hold down as a nursing student?

We Answered:

Hi,
I am an RN and I can tell you from experience that you really cant work and go to school. You will need all your time to study and be focused on that. When I went to school it was 5 days a week from 8 til 4.I tried working at night, then coming home to study for 3-4 hrs and the next thing you know if was falling asleep in class and feeling lousy. So I quit ad just went to school. And let me tell you being an RN is not what it used to be Yes the money is good, but the paper work is a nightmare,
12 hour days, alot of time no appreciation,.Id think long and hard about this, maybe give LPN a try only 1 year ,less intensive on your time,or just go in to a totally diffrent line of work

where can a freshman nursing student get a job?

We Answered:

Get your CNA license. Especially if you have never worked in healthcare!! It normally only takes 8-12 weeks and you will gain invaluable experience! It will also give you insight into nursing as a career. I have worked with so many CNA's who thought they wanted to be nurses.. got accepted in the programs and decided it really wasn't the job they wanted after all. Plus you can normally work two 12 hour shifts a week while in the nursing program.. so you can still make money without completely over-extending yourself.

I'm a sophomore and a pre-nursing student. What jobs can I have at a hospital over the summer holidays?thnks?

We Answered:

If you have a CNA degree, you can work as a nurse assistant. You can also work as a transporter- taking patient to and from different areas of the hospital. You can work in the cleaning department or laundry. If you take a phlebotomy class than you can draw blood.
